Confession #1: I used to be a puck bunny, but after a hockey player broke my heart, I gave up all things hockey. Now I’m just focused on finding a way to pass my math class so I can graduate college.

Confession #2: Ryder “Ox” Maddox’s deep, sexy voice sends fuzzy tingles through my entire body, and I’m powerless to stop it. Which is a big problem since the hot, surprisingly funny hockey player is my new math tutor.

Confession #3: I can’t stop thinking about how ripped Ryder is from all his hockey training, and how fun it’d be to cross lines with him.

Confession #4: I kissed a hockey player and I liked it.

Confession #5: If I’m not careful, I might relapse and fall for Ryder, and then I’ll be totally pucked.

Stella Santos is fine.

Maybe something terrible happened to her that she can’t even remember. And maybe it drives her crazy when her friends treat her like she’s on the verge of breaking because of it. Maybe it feels even worse when they do what she asks and pretend that it never happened at all. And maybe she’s been getting harassing emails and messages for months from people who don’t even know her, but hate her all the same.

But none of that matters because she’s just fine.

For Ryan Blake, Stella was always that girl. Vibrant and hilarious and beautiful. He wanted her as his best friend. His more than friends. His everything and anything that she would give him. Which these days is a whole lot of nothing. She gets angry when he’s there. Angry when he’s not there. Angry when he tries to talk and when he doesn’t.

When Stella devises an unconventional art project for one of her classes all about exploring intimacy—between both friends and strangers—Ryan finds himself stepping in as guinea pig after one of her subjects bails. What was supposed to be an objective and artistic look at emotion and secrets and sex suddenly becomes much more personal. When he hits it off with another girl from the project, Stella will have to decide if she’s willing to do more than make art about intimacy. To keep him, she’ll have to open up and let herself be the one thing she swore she’d never be again.

My name is Liz Foley. I love my accounting job because I’d rather deal with numbers than talk to people.

My best traits:
I have (RBF) Resting Bitch Face.
I give snarky come-backs.
I have no friends.

My worst traits:
I speak in run-on sentences when I get nervous.
I’m attracted to assholes.
I’m broke.

Enter Finnigan Walsh – the new guy at work.

His best traits:
He’s kind of hot, I suppose.
He has a working car.
He sings to me and brings me coffee.
Nothing ever gets to him, even when I add more people to our carpool.

His worst traits:
See above

I don’t like him. At least, that’s what I keep telling myself.
After all, it’s not about how fast you get there. It’s the journey. Right?
Damn this carpool.

You’d better buckle up.

This is my third book by Dawn L. Chiletz, and one of the things I love about her is how different each of those books are. It takes talent to be able to switch up genres like that, while keeping your writing voice strong. If you haven’t read any of her books yet, you should change that! I would have to say she is one of the most creative writers,  is amazing at storytelling and the master at throwing in the unexpected.

Liz Foley is witty, full of dry humor and loves to keep to herself. She’s not shy, she just doesn’t feel like dealing with people. Unfortunately for Liz, her co-worker, Finnigan Walsh- or Finn- is the complete opposite. He’s outgoing, charming and loves to be around people. The two cross paths in a big laugh out loud moment. And even though Liz would very much like for that to be the end of their communicating, Finn, and fate, have other plans.

Even though the two are clearly as different as night and day, thanks to carpooling, the two form a very quirky friendship. Which leads to an oh so delicious slow burn romance. Finn will make your heart melt. He is so caring and seems to understand Liz more than she does at times. He is the type that says the right things, does the right things, and all for the right reasons. I love how there is also more to him than meets the eye.

Liz is a nut. In the way she has a hard shell to crack. Liz has flaws, but man, she has one journey through this book. Her life is truly like a roller-coaster.

Their unexpected friendship is filled with sexual tension, fun banter, and heart to heart moments. It’s sweet and feels real. The chemistry between them feels natural, and the progression of their relationship flows perfectly.

In addition to those two, there are several side characters that are amazing. Side characters are always fun, but these ones really bring the book to life. Not to mention are hilarious. I don’t want to give too much away, so I won’t say much more on them!

Confessions of a Carpool Captive is light, fun and romantic. It feels like a super fast read, probably because of how captive it held me. Pun intended. 😛

I know at times it’s a little scary reading a new author. And I know that Dawn L. Chiletz may be new to you, but you won’t regret checking out her work. You will most likely end up with a new fave author!

The first time I saw Will Munroe I had him pegged as a typical LA douchebag—a little too handsome, a little too rich, a little too into his probiotic kale smoothies. The next time I ran into him—at his daughter’s parent/teacher conference (me: teacher, he: parent)—I noticed his steel grey eyes, his hard chest under a crisp white button down, and his suggestively bare ring finger. I was hooked.

If life really imitated art, he’d have swept me off my feet and taken me right there on the principal’s desk. Instead, we are stuck in our assigned roles. He’s the workaholic single dad of a precocious girl child, and I’m her fiery substitute teacher. Never the two shall meet. Enter one zany, yurt-dwelling ex-wife, a stock market that never sleeps, and some over-the-top, A-list fundraisers, and I’ve got plenty of drama ahead. Better to keep my hands to myself.

But when Will asks me out for a pancake breakfast, how can I resist? My heart (and my stomach) say yes, but am I willing to risk my job for a short stack and a romp in the hay? A slow, sensual, mind-blowing romp in the hay…

But where there’s a Will…

Most people called it a cult. But for twenty years, Josh & Caleb called it home.

In Paradise, there is no television. No fast food. Just long hours of farm work and prayer on a dusty Wyoming ranch, and nights in a crowded bunkhouse. The boys of the Compound are kept far from the sinners’ world.

But Joshua doesn’t need temptation to sin. His whole life, he’s wanted his best friend, Caleb. By day they work side by side. Only when Josh closes his eyes at night can they be together the way he craves.

It can never be. And his survival depends on keeping his terrible desires secret.

Caleb has always protected Josh against the worst of the bullying at the Compound. But he has secrets of his own, and a plan to get away — until it all backfires.

Josh finds himself homeless in a world that doesn’t want him. Can Caleb find him in time? And will they find a place of safety, where he can admit to Josh how he really feels?

Warning: Contains a hot male/male romance, copious instances of taking the Lord’s name in vain, and love against the kitchen counterThis book was previously released under the title: In Front of God & Everyone.

Okay, guys. I know it’s only March, but I’m going to go ahead and say it: GOODBYE PARADISE is one of my top reads for 2017. This book is romantic, sexy, heart wrenching and pulls on every single damn heart string! I was hooked from the first paragraph, and every page is pure perfection. Not to mention GOODBYE PARADISE delivered all the feels, so you might want to keep some tissue nearby. Seriously. I was wiping away the happy tears when I finished. The true definition of a feel good read.

Josh and Caleb are born and raised on a polygamist ranch named Paradise. Which is ironic, since it’s about the furthest thing from Paradise. Obeying the strictest of rules, working from dusk to dawn with never enough food, the only true comfort they have is each other; they have been best friends since they were toddlers.

Except Josh is hiding a big secret from Caleb, one he is sure would make Caleb hate him if he ever found out: Josh is in love with him. It’s forbidden in so many ways, so Josh keeps his feelings buried deep down.

Suddenly (I don’t want to go into all the details and spoil it all), Josh finds himself out in the world, free of Paradise. He is in a world he doesn’t understand, and one that doesn’t understand him. His saving grace is that Caleb is there, of course, right by his side helping him. Like always.

Caleb always protected Josh, and that wasn’t going to change now. He has a safe place in mind and is determined to get the two of them there. The only thing is, Caleb has a secret of his own… one that might even mirror Josh’s.

First of all, I apologize for being vague at times in this review. It’s just that I personally felt like it was a really powerful read, and I don’t want to take that away from anyone else.

I think the idea that they were raised on a polygamist ranch is so interesting. Sarina Bowen did a fabulous job of creating such a realistic world with Paradise. It was fascinating getting a glimpse into their world- you can tell she really did her research. The feelings and thoughts that Caleb and Josh have, both on and off the ranch, made me forget at times that these weren’t real people.

And gah, I just LOVE Josh and Caleb. I love forbidden romance and best friends to lovers and this has both!!! Being raised the way they were, they both clearly have issues. The biggest one, particularly for Josh, is knowing his self worth. There were times where I wanted to hug the crap out of him, even though he isn’t a real person. Their friendship is adorable on its own, but when it starts to move to something more… well, let’s just say these two made me swoon so freaking hard. Their love, their chemistry, their vulnerability all hit you right in the heart. The journey these two go on, the connection they have, and the growth they go through…well… I dare you not to cry!

One of my favorite things about Sarina Bowen’s books are her side characters. They always bring so much life to her books, and GOODBYE PARADISE was no different. I feel in love with several side character’s: Daniel, Maggie, Miriam, and particularly Washington (you’ll see why!).

The writing is amazing, it’s filled with great dialogue and has characters that honestly take a piece of your heart. Do yourself a huge favor and read this book. You will not be sorry!!

GOODBYE PARADISE is the first book in the series, but can be a standalone. Book two, HELLO FOREVER has no release date yet, but hopefully will be out soon. I’m not sure if there will be a third, but man, I hope so!

Kate ships tons of fictional couples, but IRL her OTP is her and Mick, the hot quarterback she’s crushed on since, like, forever. With only one semester left of senior year, it’s now or never if she wants to land him in time for prom. Since she’s flirtationally challenged, she enlists Cooper Callihan, the guy who turned popular seemingly overnight but who used to be a good friend.

Cooper lives and breathes rowing, but his partner just broke his wrist. When he remembers Kate’s good with a set of oars, he strikes a deal: help him train, and he’ll make sure her crush notices her. Only he didn’t know how addicting spending time with her would be. Or how the more successful the Operation is, the more jealousy he experiences.

The mission has been set. The troops have their marching orders. But what if the target is the wrong guy all along?

Disclaimer: This Entangled Teen Crush book contains stargazing, accidental swimming, and poker swindling. This kissing practice will melt your ereader…and give you a new couple to ship.

Cindi Madsen + YA Romance = YES! Okay, I’ve been a fan of Cindi Madsen for years now, so when I heard she was writing this YA book, I was so excited. I love a good young adult book to make me all nostalgic. And Operation Prom Date doesn’t disappoint. It’s fun, romantic, and made me had a smile on my face the entire time I was reading it.

Kate only has one goal left to her senior year of high school: Get Mick, her long time crush, to not only notice her, but get him to ask her to prom. The only problem is the odds of that happening is slim to none. So she convinces her friend Cooper to help her get Mick’s attention, in exchange to help him while his rowing partner is injured. Easy, peasy, right?

Cooper really doesn’t want to help Kate. It’s kind of weird, teaching her how to flirt with another guy. But he’s in a bind, and needs her help with rowing. And really, what can go wrong? Well… the more time Cooper and Kate spend together, the more Cooper can’t help but think it should be him taking Kate to prom. And unfortunately for him, his little ideas to get Mick to notice her… are working.

I know the fake dating to get another guy to pay attention has been done A LOT, but I have to say, this plot didn’t feel repetitive. Maybe that’s because I enjoyed the characters so much, Cooper especially. He is the kind of guy you wish you knew at 17. Charming, sweet, a good friend, and worthy of swoons. Kate is quirky, kind and while she’s not perfect, she tries to do what she thinks is right. Cooper felt more mature to me than Kate, who felt like a realistic 17 year old girl. She was sometimes over the top and dramatic, which is how a lot of girls are in high school.

The chemistry between Cooper and Kate is there from the beginning, even if they aren’t super close when the book starts. This is defiantly a slow burner, filled with a bunch of “almost” moments. It’s really sweet watching their friendship develop along the way.

Since it’s YA, it is a fast, light read. However, the characters did have dept to them, and both dealt with family issues, and realistic insecurities. It’s well written, with little unnecessary drama.

If you like sweet, silly YA romance you will love this book! I’m excited to see what’s next.

“We were perfect together. Until we met.”

I can’t help but smile at the words in her letter. She misses me.

In fifth grade, my teacher set us up with pen pals from a different school. Thinking I was a girl, with a name like Misha, the other teacher paired me up with her student, Ryen. My teacher, believing Ryen was a boy like me, agreed.

It didn’t take long for us to figure out the mistake. And in no time at all, we were arguing about everything. The best take-out pizza. Android vs. iPhone. Whether or not Eminem is the greatest rapper ever…

And that was the start. For the next seven years, it was us.

Her letters are always on black paper with silver writing. Sometimes there’s one a week or three in a day, but I need them. She’s the only one who keeps me on track, talks me down, and accepts everything I am.

We only had three rules. No social media, no phone numbers, no pictures. We had a good thing going. Why ruin it?

Until I run across a photo of a girl online. Name’s Ryen, loves Gallo’s pizza, and worships her iPhone. What are the chances?

F*ck it. I need to meet her.

I just don’t expect to hate what I find.

He hasn’t written in three months. Something’s wrong. Did he die? Get arrested? Knowing Misha, neither would be a stretch.

Without him around, I’m going crazy. I need to know someone is listening. It’s my own fault. I should’ve gotten his number or picture or something.

He could be gone forever.

Or right under my nose, and I wouldn’t even know it.
