Saturday Spotlight- The Deal

Author: Elle Kennedy

If you haven’t read this book- or any in the Off Campus series- you need to change that. Asap! It’s one of my personal favorite books!

Hannah Wells has finally found someone who turns her on. But while she might be confident in every other area of her life, she’s carting around a full set of baggage when it comes to sex and seduction. If she wants to get her crush’s attention, she’ll have to step out of her comfort zone and make him take notice…even if it means tutoring the annoying, childish, cocky captain of the hockey team in exchange for a pretend date.

…and it’s going to be oh so good

All Garrett Graham has ever wanted is to play professional hockey after graduation, but his plummeting GPA is threatening everything he’s worked so hard for. If helping a sarcastic brunette make another guy jealous will help him secure his position on the team, he’s all for it. But when one unexpected kiss leads to the wildest sex of both their lives, it doesn’t take long for Garrett to realize that pretend isn’t going to cut it. Now he just has to convince Hannah that the man she wants looks a lot like him.

Mark Your Calendars- May!

Hey Guys! Here are some upcoming May releases that has me SO excited!

Mister O by Lauren Blakely- May 2nd

Find on Goodreads

Just call me Mister O. Because YOUR pleasure is my super power.

Making a woman feel ‘oh-god-that’s-good’ is the name of the game, and if a man can’t get the job done, he should get the hell out of the bedroom. I’m talking toe-curling, mind-blowing, sheet-grabbing ecstasy. Like I provide every time.

I suppose that makes me a superhero of pleasure, and my mission is to always deliver.

But then I’m thrown for a loop when a certain woman asks me to teach her everything about how to win a man. The only problem? She’s my best friend’s sister, but she’s far too tempting to resist–especially when I learn that sweet, sexy Harper, has a dirty mind too and wants to put it to good use. What could possibly go wrong as I give the woman I’ve secretly wanted some no-strings-attached lessons in seduction?

No one will know, even if we send a few dirty sexts. Okay, a few hundred. Or if the zipper on her dress gets stuck. Not on that! Or if she gives me those f*&k-me-eyes on the train in front of her whole family.

The trouble is the more nights I spend with her in bed, the more days I want to spend with her out of bed. And for the first time ever, I’m not only thinking about how to make a woman cry out in pleasure –I’m thinking about how to keep her in my arms for a long time to come.

Looks like the real Adventures of Mister Orgasm have only just begun….

The Summer Games: Settling the Score by  R.S. Grey-  May 2nd

Find on Goodreads

As an Olympic rookie, Andie Foster has spent far more time in her cleats than between the sheets. For 21 years, her Friday nights have consisted of blocking shots rather than taking them. But now that she’s landed in Rio, she’s ready to see for herself if the rumors about the Olympic Village are true:

• The athletes are all sex-crazed maniacs…
• The committee passes out condoms like candy…
• The games continue long after the medals have been handed out…

As Andie walks the line between rumor and reality, she’s forced into the path of Frederick Archibald, a decorated Olympic swimmer and owner of a sexy British accent—too bad he’s unavailable in a way that “it’s complicated” doesn’t even begin to explain.

In other words: off limits.

It doesn’t matter that he has abs that could bring peace to the Middle East and a smile that makes even the Queen blush; Andie fully intends on keeping her focus on the soccer field. But the Village is small. Suffocating. Everywhere Andie goes, Freddie happens to be there—shirtless, wet from the pool, and determined to show her a whole new meaning of the phrase “international affairs”.

Leveling the Field by Megan Erickson- May 2nd

Reclusive magazine exec Ethan Talley is furious when his business partner hires a photographer—a gorgeous photographer who insists on speaking her mind, damn it—to take pictures for an upcoming article. No matter how badly he wants the woman…under him, over him, against the nearest wall…he has reasons for not wanting to be on camera anymore, and his scars are only one of them.

It takes approximately two seconds for Lissa Kingsman to recognize Ethan as the popular YouTube gamer who fell off the planet years ago. But this Ethan is different than the charming man she used to watch, and the crush she had on him then is nothing compared to the way she’s lusting after the brooding man he is today. If sex is all he can give her, fine. Why not use that bearskin rug in her studio for something other than a prop? But she’s determined to put a chink in his armor, no matter how much he resists.

Good Girl by Lauren Layne-May 17th

I read an ARC of this- SOOOO good!

Jenny Dawson moved to Nashville to write music, not get famous. But when her latest record goes double platinum, Jenny’s suddenly one of the town’s biggest stars—and the center of a tabloid scandal connecting her with a pop star she’s barely even met. With paparazzi tracking her every move, Jenny flees to a remote mansion in Louisiana to write her next album. The only hiccup is the unexpected presence of a brooding young caretaker named Noah, whose foul mouth and snap judgments lead to constant bickering—and serious heat.

Noah really should tell Jenny that he’s Preston Noah Maxwell Walcott, the owner of the estate where the feisty country singer has made her spoiled self at home. But the charade gives Noah a much-needed break from his own troubles, and before long, their verbal sparring is indistinguishable from foreplay. But as sizzling nights give way to quiet pillow talk, Noah begins to realize that Jenny’s almost as complicated as he is. To fit into each other’s lives, they’ll need the courage to face their problems together—before the outside world catches up to them.

Sugar Daddy by Sawyer Bennett- May 24th

I read an ARC of this and LOVED it! It does end with Cliffhanger though.

Sela Halstead lost her innocence in a way that no sixteen-year-old should ever have to endure. She’s spent years trying to forget that night even while wondering about the identities of the monsters who brutalized her—until a telltale tattoo flashes across Sela’s TV screen. The incriminating ink belongs to Jonathon Townsend, the millionaire founder of The Sugar Bowl, a website that matches rich older men with impressionable young women. Obsessed with revenge, Sela infiltrates Townsend’s world, only to come face-to-face with a tantalizing complication: Beckett North, his charismatic business partner.

The tech mastermind behind The Sugar Bowl, Beck always gets what he wants, in business and in bed. And yet, for a man who’s done every dirty thing imaginable, there’s something about the naïve, fresh-faced Sela that sparks his hottest fantasies. Because with her, it’s not just about sex. Beck opens up to her in ways he never has with other girls. So why does he get the feeling that she’s hiding something? In a world of pleasure and power, the shocking truth could turn them against each other—or bind them forever.

Somewhere In Between by Shirl Rickman

Author: Shirl Rickman

Rating: 4.5 Stars

Release Date: April 26th, 2016

ARC received in exchange for an honest review.

The art of romance is dead…

Tessa Collins loves people. She loves her job, loves her family—and on most days, loves her crazy best friend, Chad. Determined and independent, Tessa believes in love; she just doesn’t believe romantic love really exists anymore. Real love is for fools.

Jaded and closed off: That’s what they say about Lenox Malone…

He believed in love once; loved his girl, loved writing—Lenox loved romance when the whole world believed it was dead. But then he was scarred by it, and alone. Finally moving past the pain love ignited inside him, he never wants to risk being jaded again.

A journal and a chance encounter…

When the handwritten words of a lovesick stranger find their way into her hands, Tessa’s heart begins to… open. To flutter. To grow. To invite inside her weary heart the possibility that perhaps romance and true love really do exist. But can it exist for her? Can a chance connection and fate’s design unlock one of the greatest love stories of all?

Their own.

Romance is not dead, and I’m thankful to Shirl Rickman for writing a book that proves it. Somewhere In Between is a sweet, touching tale that tugs on the heartstrings. It’s pretty impossible to read this without a silly grin on your face or an ‘aww’ escaping out. This book is an insta-feel good read, reminding me of how I feel after I watch classics like You Got Mail and While You Were Sleeping.

Tessa Collins spends the majority of her time working- which consists of helping others in need. When she has a free moment, she is usually with her best friend Chad, or going on blind dates that Chad has set up for her. Dates that Tessa finds lackluster at best- and while some of the guys are perfectly nice- she is looking for something more than just nice. Like most women out there, Tessa starts to believe that the life changing, time stopping, earth moving type of love doesn’t exist in the real world. Then she finds a journal. A journal filled with the words of a man, that are romantic enough to soften even the most critical person. She makes it her mission to find the person that wrote those entries.

Lenox Malone is the man behind the words, but he isn’t who Tessa expects to find. Once a man head over heals, he freely wrote down his feelings and emotions, positive that true love overcomes everything. Thanks to a bad break up, Lenox doesn’t feel the same about love. He also has zero interest in receiving the journal that holds the foolish words he once wrote and worse, believed. Now, if only he could convince the crazy woman that found his journal of that.

Through a series of bantering E-mails, Lenox feels this explainable connection to Tessa, a girl who doesn’t believe in romance or true love. And even though Lenox himself has no interest in going down that path again, he finds himself wanting to prove to Tessa that she is wrong. And perhaps, that he is wrong too.

Their relationship is one filled with romantic gestures, soft kisses, intense chemistry and pink post it notes. Not to mention, there may or may not be love letters involved. Yes, love letters. Talk about swooning! I can’t say I ever received a love letter before, though I did get a love (strongly over-exaggerating there) video once, which consisted mainly of this guy calling me a “cool chick”. Which is why the world needs more guys like Lenox, who is the perfect book boyfriend.

I love how Rickman wrote both Tessa and Lenox. Tessa reminded me a lot of myself, and I was instantly connected to her and rooting for her happy ending. I loved that even though she didn’t believe in romancing, she was willing to give it a try. Then there is Lenox, the guy who is guarded but still soft as butter. Who has a huge heart, and even though it may have a crack in it, he still tries to listen to it.

In addition to Tessa and Lenox, I thought the supporting characters were really fun and lovely as well. First of all, Chad, who is Tessa’s best friend. I found myself wishing he would get his own book the more I got to know him. You also meet Sammy, Chad’s friend, who is kind of clueless yet surprisingly insightful. Perhaps the best part is getting to see both of the main character’s relationships with their moms.

You guys seriously have to read Somewhere In Between- Shirl Rickman has created this super sweet, super special book that you won’t want to miss. She completely captivated my attention with her words and details- leaving me with the feeling that I was the star in a rom-com. There are a few twists and turns along the way, but I won’t get into those, since I believe they will be much more enjoyable with no warning. 🙂

Be sure to check out  Shirl’s Facebook page (link at the top of the page) for more information on her books and any upcoming projects. Which I hope is soon!

The Natural History Of Us by Rachel Harris

TNHoU - blog tour banner

Author: Rachel Harris

Rating: 4 stars

Genre: YA, romance

Release date: April 5th, 2016

ARC received in exchange for an honest review.

One class assignment. One second chance at love. The school player is all in. Now he needs to win back the sweet commitment girl who’s forever owned his heart.

Justin Carter has a secret. He’s not the total player Fairfield Academy believes him to be. Not really. In fact, he used to be a one-woman guy…and his feelings for her never went away. Too bad he broke her heart three years ago and made sure to ruin any chance she’d ever forgive him.

Peyton Williams is a liar. She pretends to be whole, counting down the days until graduation and helping her parents at the family ranch. But the truth is, she’s done everything she can to get over Justin, and salvation is just around the corner. With graduation one short month away, she’ll soon break free from the painful memories and start her life fresh. Of course, she has to get through working with him on one last assignment first.

For Justin, nothing ever felt as right as being with Peyton, and now that fate’s given him a shot at redemption, he’s determined to make the most of it. And for Peyton…well, Justin Carter has always been her kryptonite.

The Natural History of Us is a sweet, fun, insta feel good read. Rachel Harris created a world with the magic of first love, the heartache of broken promises, the hope of a second chance and most importantly, learning to believe in yourself.

First of all, I have to talk about Justin. I’ve been a fan of Justin since The Fine Art of Pretending. He wasn’t the hero in that book, in fact was kind of made out to be the bad guy but I found myself cheering for him anyway- just with a different heroine. Harris showed glimpes of Justin’s good heart in that book, and it was confirmed in The Natural History of Us. He is a complex character, both hard and soft, vulnerable and guarded.

As far as Peyton goes, she has many layers as well. She is true to herself, but sometimes second guesses. She’s stubborn but gives in. The best thing about her is she doesn’t let anything define her or bring limitations. She beautiful and equally smart, which is something you don’t always get with a female lead. Her growth from the beginning of the book to the ending is just perfect. She is flawed, the biggest being trying to do what she thinks is right over what she wants to actually do.

The book is from both Peyton and Justin’s point of views. It also alternates between their freshmen year and present time, senior year. That might seem like it would make it confusing, but honestly, it wasn’t. I give major props to Harris’ writing style for that, and I can’t imagine how hard it was to right and keep everything straight in all that. It flows perfectly, and isn’t hard to get back into it when it switches from past to present. The growth of the character’s is even more evident this way.

Justin and Peyton are so darn cute. The way they are able to bring out the best in each other will bring a smile to your face. They both have obstacles to overcome, and they find some power to do it in each other. It’s romantic and pure and tugs on the heartstrings. The Natural History of Us is a classic tale of boys meets girl, boy gets girl, boy loses girl, boy wants girl back. Even though the concept is nothing new, Harris puts her spectacular tough on it, giving it a true heart.

“Hold out your hand.” At the expression on his face, I rolled my eyes. “Just do it.”
Cautiously, as if I was going to put out a cobra or something, he uncurled his fingers and lifted his palm. I dropped a small silver coin in the center. “For luck.”

Wonder warred with confusion in his gorgeous brown eyes and my heart melted.

“On this side there’s a horseshoe,” I said, my cheeks warming with a blush. “You know,
the universal symbol for luck… and a small reminder of me.”

I bit my lip, hoping he didn’t think that was too corny—or that it revealed too much.
I flipped the coin over, exposing the other side, and my fingers slid across his rough skin.
My breath caught. When I lifted my eyes, I found him watching me with so much intensity, so much heat, that an actual shiver rolled through me. Just like in my favorite books.

Huh. So that was what smoldering looked like. Good to know.

I swallowed hard and noticed him do the same, and nothing could hold back my smile.
Justin glanced down and laughed. “Kick some ass!” he read, skimming his fingernail over my initials.

“I figured…” I cleared my throat. “I thought you could hide it in your sock or something,” I said, unable to tell if he liked the gift or not. He just kept staring at it. “If it’s dumb, you don’t have to—”

He’d said it so quietly I almost wasn’t sure he’d spoken at all. But then he closed his
hand around the coin and raised his head. Time ceased to exist as Justin’s eyes trailed across my face. I held my breath waiting and a sweet smile crossed his face.

“Damn.” He shook his head softly. “You’ve done it now.”

“What?” I asked, hoping whatever it was that it was a good thing. “What did I do?”

Justin merely shook his head again and smiled. “Wait for me after the game.” Shifting his
gaze to the old concession stand, he took a step back and said, “Over there, okay?”

When I nodded, excitement lodging in my throat, making it impossible to speak, he
winked and then took off to join his teammates. As I watched his cute butt in those uniform pants run across the field, a giddy grin found my lips.
