ARC received in exchange for an honest review.

This is Shirl Rickman’s debut novel, and I have to say she is off to one helluva start. When Destinies Collide pulled me in from the very beginning, holding me captive until the last word. Romantic, witty, and gut-wrenching at times, it was like a roller-coaster of feelings, and I enjoyed every minute of it.

Selene Chandler and Drake Thomas have a lot in common: they are all too familiar with the feeling of loss and grief. They both have perfected acting one way, while feeling the complete opposite inside. They are guarded, putting up a wall they are sure no one could tear down- they are also both wrong.

From the moment they enter each others lives, there is a connection between them that can’t be explained, and an attraction that can’t be denied, though they sure do try. Their friendship starts off with bickering/pushing each others buttons, then slowly transforms into one guaranteed to make you grin like an idiot. I may or may not have been asked several times what was causing the smile on my face. Then they start to have feelings and actions that are a little more than friendly ones- and I couldn’t help but wish I could encourage them to just go for it.

And I have to say, Drake is just too adorable! He may put up a hard outer shell, but his soft side is one to swoon over.

I have to admit I’m the type of reader that tries to guess what is going to happen next as I’m reading. And not to brag, but about ninety percent of the time, I’m right. Well, When Destinies Collide certainly knocked down my average. This book has twist and turns that give you some ‘Oh my gosh’ moments. You can tell this was well planned out, and the end result is amazing.

Shirl is such a talented writer, and her descriptions made me feel like I was right there with them- seeing what they saw, feeling what they felt, and even tasting the lemonade that they drank. It was such a pleasure to be shown what the characters were experiencing, instead of being told.

When Destinies Collide is a story of loss, love and forgiveness; and I highly recommend it!

Things Liars Say by Sara Ney

tlsreview

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Release Date: July 31st, 2015

ARC received in exchange for honest review.

I’m not one that gives 5 stars often- I’m pretty much the queen of 4/4.5 stars. However, Things Liars Say is nothing less than 5 stars. Freshly original, completely sexy, and filled with the unmistakable Sara Ney wit that I love.

When Greyson Keller makes up a boyfriend to get her sorority sisters off her back, she never dreamed her little lie would show up on her doorstep, ready to kick her butt. Or maybe I should say his butt, as Cal Thompson is fully expecting to come face to face with the guy spreading rumors about him-not the gorgeous girl that is behind it all. An improbable friendship starts to form between the two of them, and well, let’s just say sometimes good things do come from telling lies.

I was so intrigued when I heard the plot, and it was everything I hoped for. Sara really hit a homerun with this one. Wait, wrong sport, I mean she scored a TRY!

Since it is a Novella it is more fast paced, but do not mistake that for being rushed at all. It was so well written that I was trying to devour the pages as quickly as I could, yet at the same time, trying to make it last. The story has an incredible flow, and two well defined characters with strong voices. Greyson is sharp and flirty, yet has this vulnerability to her that is easy to connect with. And Cal… he isn’t the type that knocks you right off your feet, yet rather blindsides you with his charm. He’s a mix of a strong, confident athlete with a sensitive, slightly self-conscious guy that is just… dare I say it, kind of romantic? Also, so cute. 😉 After you read it, you will understand the wink.

The only thing better than their adorable friendship is the chemistry between the two of them. I can pretty much sum it up in two words: Holy hottness. Seriously though, between sexy banter and sexual tension (kinda like heavy fog), it’s the kind of read that will have you laughing one second, and your heart fluttering the next.

This is the perfect summer read- just be careful where you read it, there are a quite a bit of laugh out loud moments, and ones that make you bite your lip.

I only wish it were longer, because I’m greedy like that, and wasn’t ready to leave Greyson and Cal behind just yet. The good news is that it will be part of a three book series, so get to writing Sara! 😛 Do yourself a favor and one click Things Liars Say. It will not disappoint.

Saturday Spotlight- Breathe, Annie, Breath

BreatheAnnieBreathe_CVR-1

Title: Breathe, Annie, Breathe

Author: Miranda Kenneally

Rating: 5 stars

Blurb:

Annie hates running. No matter how far she jogs, she can’t escape the guilt that if she hadn’t broken up with Kyle, he might still be alive. So to honor his memory, she starts preparing for the marathon he intended to race.

But the training is even more grueling than Annie could have imagined. Despite her coaching, she’s at war with her body, her mind—and her heart. With every mile that athletic Jeremiah cheers her on, she grows more conflicted. She wants to run into his arms…and sprint in the opposite direction. For Annie, opening up to love again may be even more of a challenge than crossing the finish line.

Breathe, Annie, Breathe is a bittersweet, heart wrenching, romantic book about forgiveness, moving on, and opening your heart again. The book is so well-written, and you can’t help but cheer Annie on. Annie and Jeremiah have crazy chemistry, though it’s their friendship that really pulls you in.

This book will make you laugh, cry (have tissue ready), and might even make you feel like going for a jog. If you haven’t ready this book, I suggest checking it out! Find it on Amazon.

Waiting On It Wednesday 7/22

HIM

Title: Him

Authors: Sarina Bowen & Elle Kennedy

Release Date: July 28th, 2015

Okay, since the release date is in 6 days, this isn’t exactly a long wait, but since I have yet to have it on my kindle, it’s still a wait nonetheless.

I have to admit, I have never been a fan of M/M books before, but I’m so excited to read this book. I’m a fan of Sarina‘s other books, and Elle is one of my favorite authors, so a book with BOTH of their talents? Sold. Then throw in the fact it features TWO hot hockey players and unrequited love? Okay, I’m one-clicking the pre-order.

Even though I haven’t read it yet, I know the writing will be incredibly, the romance sweet, and the chemistry sizzling.
