Top 5- Sports Edition

As a HUGE sports fan, there is nothing I love more than a book involving a hot athlete. It’s like morphing my two greatest loves into one thing. I know I’m not the only one that feels this way, so I wanted to share a list of my top five*- maybe you’ve read them all, or perhaps this will help you stumble upon something new!

*It was really, really hard to cut this list to only five!

The Deal by Elle Kennedy

Featuring: Garrett Graham

The Deal is one of my favorite books, and Elle Kennedy is a freakin’ genius. What starts off as deal to get what they each want, (a tutoring session and grabbing the attention of another guy) Hannah, a music major, and Garrett, a hockey star, strike up a friendship that neither of them expected. The only thing more alarming than their new found friendship? When they start wanting more.

The Deal is steamy, witty, and unexpectedly heart wrenching at times.

The Friend Zone by Kristen Callihan

Featuring: Gray Grayson

When Gray and Ivy start texting each other, they quickly become friends, and according to Ivy, friends is all they will ever be. When they finally meet each other in person, Ivy can’t deny that Gray is absolutely gorgeous. The more they spend time together, and the closer they get, Ivy starts to wonder why she ever put Gray in the friend zone. And that is exactly what Gray wants.

The Friend Zone is steamy and pretty much a roller-coaster of feelings.

The Mistake By Elle Kennedy

Featuring: John Logan aka Logan

Yes, another Off Campus book by Elle Kennedy! After meeting Logan in the deal, I was thrilled to learn the second book would feature him. When Logan hooks up with innocent freshmen Grace, he expects it to be like all of his others. However, they form a friendship, and he even starts to care about her. Then, after one major mistake, Grace cuts him lose. Unable to shake her off, Logan does whatever he can to try to get her back- and even though she isn’t sure it’s the best idea, Grace just may let him.

It would be a huge mistake (see what I did there?) not to read this sexy and charming book.

A Kiss Like This by Sara Ney

Featuring: Caleb Lockhart

This book will not be released until June 1st, but I had the pleasure to read it early. When sweet, shy Abby falls (literally) into moody, anti-social Caleb’s life, he never dreamed he might fall for her. When Abby first meets Caleb, his sarcastic attitude makes her mad. What makes her even madder is when she can’t stop thinking about how attractive he is. They find themselves wanting more than friendship, and Caleb would make a move… if he could stop being tongue tied.

Make sure you check it out on June 1st. This book is hilarious, adorable and filled with some pretty yummy scenes.

Catching Jordan by Miranda Kenneally

Featuring: Sam Henry aka Henry

This book is a bit lighter than other books on this list, but Miranda Kenneally is one of my favorite authors and Catching Jordan is one of my favorite books. Jordan Woods is not your average girl- she is the quarterback of her high school’s football team. You would think being around hot football players all the time would be a blessing, but Jordan spends most of her time keeping her teammates in check, particularly her best friend, Sam Henry. She thinks she has her life in order: play football, win games, get into college. But when Henry drops a bombshell on her, she realizes she doesn’t know as much about life and love as she thought she did.

This book is sweet, heart touching and such a fun read.

A Kiss Like This by Sara Ney

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Release Date: June 1st, 2015

ARC kindly received for a review!

If you had no plans to check out A Kiss Like This by Sara Ney, you need to re-think that decision. Immediately. This book was one of the best I have read lately- a total breath of fresh air. I had some pretty high expectations for this book, and it exceed them- and then some. The third book in the series, AKLT follows it’s companions, Kissing In Cars and He Kissed Me First, and even though I really enjoyed the first two, this one far surpasses them. I was up half the night because I couldn’t put it down, and even when I finished it, I was laying there for a while, thinking about how good it was.

A Kiss Like This features Abby (shy, reserved, slightly awkward) and Caleb (moody, anti-social and maybe even more awkward) who happen to meet when Abby falls into Caleb’s life. Literally. Even though they do not get off to the best start, cue in some awesome banter, they start up a friendship. It isn’t long before they both want more, they just don’t know how to go about achieving that. It also features some familiar faces from the previous books, as well as some new roommates/teammates that bring mischief and problems into Abby and Caleb’s lives.

Caleb and Abby are characters you definitely warm up to quickly, and they were so well written. I connected with Abby from the start, and saw some touches of myself in her. Her passive, sweet personality, along with the fact that she occasionally stuttered was really endearing. What I really loved most about her was that even though she was on the timid side, she had no problem standing up for herself when the time came. As for Caleb? Well.. what is there not to like about him? He wasn’t the typical cocky male character, but rather was the perfect blend of sarcastic and shy, who turns out to be a bigger softy than even he knew.  You won’t be able to escape his charm, and believe me when I say you wouldn’t want to.

Their relationship isn’t quick or perfect, but it is honest and real. Relationships are messy, full of mistakes and down right awkward at times.

One warning about this book- It will make you laugh, and I don’t mean the occasional chuckle. I can’t remember the last time I laughed so much while reading a book. It got to the point where I was really thankful I was reading it in the privacy of my living room.

The book is also sweet, sexy and filled with just the right amount of cringe worthy embarrassing moments. You will fall in love with everything about A Kiss Like This, and you can’t do anything but root for Abby and Caleb. And if you’re anything like me, you may find yourself squealing and muttering encouragement to them through your kindle. Yeah, I’m that kind of reader.

And as a loyal fan of a BIG TEN school, Sara gets some extra points for mentioning the BIG. 😛

There is so much more I could say about it, but I’ll let you see somethings for yourself. 😉 So do yourself a huge favor and check out this book. Again, it will be out on June 1st, and isn’t on amazon yet, so I can’t set up a link but I will do so after the release date. For more on Sara Ney, check out her Facebook.

Waiting On It Wednesday

Title: Bounce

Author: Noelle August

Release Date: August 25, 2015

I am beyond excited for the third book in this series, Bounce, to be released.  If you have not read anything by Noelle August, you need to start! Charming characters, flirty banter and unexpected tugs at the heartstrings- this series has it all. Each book can be read on its own, though I strongly encourage you to read them all- you won’t be sorry!

The first book in the Boomerang series is Boomerang, which features Ethan and Mia, who awake together after a night neither can remember. If you think that is awkward, it turns out they are also both competing for a single intern position at the Boomerang company.

The second book is Rebound, and features some familar characters from Boomerang- Adam, the CEO of Boomerang, and Alison, the ex girlfriend of Ethan. If that doesn’t complicate things enough, Alison is also the daughter of the man Adam is hoping to do business with.

So, so good! (Though I do have to admit I think book two is my favorite so far!)

Bounce will also star two familiar characters- Mia’s roommate Skylar, and Adam’s younger brother Grey.

Crazy for the Competition by Cindi Madsen

Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars

Arc provided in exchange for an honest review

Cindi Madsen hit the nail on the head in this beautiful, charming and hilarious book. Crazy for the Competition is delightful and semi quick read, but in no means is a simple book. Tackling the issue of giving in to what your heart wants, versus what everyone around you thinks you should do, is a subject that everyone can relate to. In a heart-filled lesson, we are reminded that sometimes we need to take a step back and examine what is really worth fighting for.

Crazy for the Competition is the story of Quinn Sakata and Heath Brantley, who are complete opposites in almost every aspect expect for one thing: They both have their eyes, and hearts, on a property in the town of Hope Springs. Despite having different reasons for wanting to own the property, (Quinn wants to turn it into a B&B, while Heath wants it to become a hunting lodge) it is something that is equally important to them.

Despite having an instant attraction towards each other, they know they have to put a wall up to protect their dreams. However, when a friendship starts between them, it becomes harder and harder to hold backs their feelings, but there is still the cold fact- Only one of them will win the property.

The Characters are well written and you will find yourself falling in love with them. Quinn is a strong female character throughout the book, but when she finally finds her voice, you want to applaud her. Heath is pretty swoon-worthy, and has a bigger heart than most people would expect. Both of their passions, morals, fears and wants shine through in this book, and truly touch the heart.

Crazy for the Competition will be released June 9th.
